Song-birds in the #heartofgreenbay

Our little nature oasis in the #heartofgreenbay is host to a dozen species of song #bird, some of which stay with us year round.  The sub-zero temperatures of the past week can be very hard on our little feathered friends.

Ornithologist, Steve Kress,  teaches the right combination of feeders and food to turn our winter backyard into a welcome refuge for birds and set the stage to view their colors and frolicking. Learn more in, “The Audubon Guide to Winter Bird-Feeding“.

Inn the Heart of Green Bay sits on three city lots that are home to cedar, white pine, red pine, maple, oak, elm, mulberry, and lilac trees, as well as shrubbery and native plants such as chokecherry, red-osier dogwood, echinacea,  milkweed, yarrow and yucca.  We keep tastefully placed brush piles, stalks and seedy pine cones around the property for our friends to take shelter and feed through the biting weeks of late winter.
