Lilacs in Full Bloom at Heart of Green Bay

The Heart of Green Bay guest house is surrounded by mature lilac bushes where birds and people alike are drawn to the heady floral aroma they emit.

As the lilac bloom peaks this first week of June, hints of their sweet fragrance waft on the breeze, giving rise to memories of seasons past.

When the temperature and velocity of the prevailing winds are just right, you can catch a whiff of them from inside the upper flat where we accommodate our guests.

Nectar of lilac is an essential source of nutrition for bees and early arriving butterflies to northeast Wisconsin.

The leaves and blossoms are edible and medicinal for humans as well, and may be used fresh as garnish, dried for tea or made into an infusion.

Lilac infusion can be use as an astringent on scrapes and mild rashes.

Lilac essential oil in a diffuser will foster feelings of calm, nostalgia and relaxation.

Our guests this week will be greeted by a wall of blossoms upon arrival to the property and treated to fresh cut lilacs inside the flat as long as they are available.

We love that our neighbors also can be seen strolling slowly by, taking in the scent during this deliciously fragrant time of year.
